About John Hightower
John began learning the guitar at 13 while playing the drums in his own band and later his brother's rock band. At 19 while playing drums for a professional theatre group that traveled the southeast, he and a guitarist friend began writing songs and singing together.
At 22, he began to study classical guitar first at the Lovett School of the Performing Arts with teacher Jack Winchester and later with Mary Ackerman, chair of the guitar department at Kennesaw State University and a teacher at the Maple Street Guitar Center in Buckhead.
John met his wife in 1982 and they began writing and performing songs. For fifteen years, they performed in numerous churches and events around metro Atlanta as the group Two or More.
John was the music director at the Riverside Bible Church in Sandy Springs (now Northside Community Church) from 1990-1992, and has performed as a drummer, singer and guitarist at numerous churches in the last 23 years, including his home church, Perimeter Church in Duluth.
He is a steady performer in many restaurants around the city including The Legacy Lodge at Lake Lanier and Olde Town Tavern & Grille at Town Center in Suwanee.
